How do I know the games are fair?
Skillz uses a patented fairness system: both players in a match receive identical game conditions (same starting state, same pseudo-random sequence). The only variable is each player's decisions and execution.
All game results are validated server-side. Neither player can manipulate the game outcome through their device.
Skillz certifies each game's fairness before it's added to Arena.
Can Skillz staff play against me?
Yes -- Skillz staff members are permitted to play. This is disclosed in our Terms of Service.
Staff are subject to the same matching algorithm and fairness rules as all players. They do not have any gameplay advantage.
If you lose a match to a Skillz staff member, your entry fee is refunded.
If you believe a match was unfair, use the 'Report' function on the match results screen or contact support.
I think my opponent cheated -- what should I do?
Report the match using the flag/report option on the match results screen, or contact support with your Match ID.
Skillz investigates all cheat reports. Confirmed cheaters have their accounts banned and any ill-gotten winnings reversed.
Due to privacy, we don't disclose the specific outcome of individual investigations -- but every report is reviewed.
Why doesn't Skillz reveal the outcome of cheat investigations?
To protect user privacy. Sharing investigation outcomes publicly could expose personal account information or create retaliation risks.
We do act on all confirmed cases -- account bans, prize reversals, and other consequences are applied.
How does Skillz protect my payment information?
Skillz never stores your card number or bank credentials on its servers. All payment data is tokenized at the processor level (Braintree for cards, Plaid/Aeropay for bank accounts).
All transactions use TLS encryption in transit. Skillz is PCI DSS compliant.
Your bank credentials are entered directly into Plaid's secure interface -- Skillz only receives an access token, never your login details.
